Strawberry Peach Sangria

July 15, 2011

Here’s another cool and refreshing Sangria, perfect for hot summer afternoons by the pool.  There really are no rules when it comes to mixing up fruit and wine combinations. Ginger Ale, Sprite or Club Soda all work. Just about any white wine will do.  I like a relatively dry Chardonnay but use whatever you like.

  • Chardonnay, 1.5 liter bottle
  • Simple Syrup, 1/2 cup or so
  • Peaches, 2 or 3
  • Strawberries, a dozen or so
  • Peach Schnapps and/or Brandy, 1 cup
  • Ginger Ale

Slice a couple of peaches and a good handful of strawberries and dump them into a large pitcher.  Add the simple syrup and muddle it all together.

Pour in most of the wine along with the peach schnapps.  How much wine might depend on how much your pitcher holds.  You can refrigerate it for a while at this point if you like.  Since I never plan far enough ahead, I had no time for that, what with a houseful of thirsty guests.

Throw in a few ice cubes and top it off with ginger ale.  Stir gently.

Pour it over ice and garnish with a strawberry or a  peach slice.

Be sure to get some of the sweet, wine-soaked fruit in your glass.  Eating it is half the fun. Enjoy!

Your sangria looks refreshing and delicious! I make a similar summertime sangria with stone fruits and diet 7-up. I love the idea of using diet ginger ale too!
