Gardening, Week Two

March 30, 2011

Things are growing along pretty well this week. I’m still way behind where I wanted to be with the raised bed but I WILL have plants in the dirt before the weekend is over.

The cilantro is growing like crazy. It’s about to take over its marjoram neighbor, which is going to be moved to the raised bed.

The basil is also going crazy, even if I am still sharing it with some critter.

Sage and tarragon continue to sprout. It’ll be time for thinning soon.

Look at the lavender! It’s already starting to blossom, something last year’s lavender never did. I think there’s more lavender destined for the raised bed.

And a BIG thanks to my wonderful and hard-working boys! Chris turned up the dirt and laid it out and everyone who was here for dinner the other night pitched it and got it all in place pretty quickly. It’s not the prettiest sight right now but I’m picturing it full of tomatoes, peppers and more with the holes full of herbs and flowers. My goal is dirt before Saturday and plants in the ground by Sunday.
