Ham and Pear Sandwiches

November 10, 2009

Another pressed sandwich experiment that’s going to stay as a favorite.  I used Havarti here but Brie makes a nice addition too.KBP_2718

  • Baguettes
  • Deli-sliced Ham
  • Pears, ripe and soft
  • Havarti and/or Brie, sliced
  • Honey Mustard

KBP_2734Slice the pears.  There’s no need to peel them first.KBP_2739Cut each loaf of bread into quarters and then slice each piece open but don’t cut all the way through.KBP_2741Spread on a generous amount of honey mustard.KBP_2756Stuff with ham, cheese and a few pear slices.KBP_2760Place on a hot griddle or skillet and press firmly with a spatula or, like I do, the flat lid from a large pot.  Let them heat up for a few minutes, turn them over and press again.  Cook them long enough that the ham is heated and the cheese melts.KBP_2776Serve warm.

I’ve been pan grilling my cooking pears after marinating in maple syrup and sherry vinegar; placing on greens, cheese and toasted pecans. Many reasons to be merry this season…and to give thanks

So easy and yet so good! Can’t wait to make these and the dressing…I’ve always had such a hard time making a good salad dressing.
