This is a compensated review by BlogHer and Jimmy Dean however the opinions and feelings expressed here are my own.
I’m not usually big on New Year’s Resolutions, simply because I hate feeling like a sheep going along with the crowd. I hate making a bunch of unreasonably difficult promises to myself that I know I’ll never be able to keep.
However, there’s something about the new year to inspire a fresh start. Maybe it’s the clean and uncluttered way everything looks once the Christmas decorations are back in the attic. Maybe it’s the uncluttered way life feels once the holiday hubbub has died down. Maybe it’s just the promise of a whole year stretched out ahead, full of the unknown. Whatever it is, I’m setting a couple of modest goals. I want to eat better and get back into the gym on a regular basis. If that helps me fit back into some of my old jeans then all the better. Mostly I just want to get a little healthier, have more energy and improve my mood.
One of my biggest challenges when it comes to eating better is reducing my intake of simple carbs. I know that when I focus more on lean proteins, fresh produce and whole grains and less on simple carbs and sugar I feel better, I lose the cravings and I generally lose weight.
The problem is that I love pasta. And rice. And bread. And dessert. Past experience has taught me that the fastest way to crave something is to put in my forbidden-food list. No particular food will ever be banned but I can make better choices at least some of the time.
Aside from my love of pasta and all things carb-filled, my habit of skipping breakfast gets in the way of eating well. I know all the reasons I’m supposed to eat in the morning but I just don’t do it. The breakfast foods I like aren’t usually the healthy choices. The healthy options that are also convenient get boring after a while. How many days in a row can I eat a hard boiled egg wrapped in single slice of dry rye toast before going crazy and giving up?
Frozen and/or convenience foods aren’t usually my thing but occasionally they really hit the spot, like this new product, D-Lights from Jimmy Dean. It’s easy, it’s packed with lean protein and it’ll help me start my day (and my year) off on the right foot. And they’re not too bad!

I will get off my butt more. I plan to exercise more by using the treadmill whenever i watch tv.
I am going to continue my successful food and exercise routines from 2010, but I’m going to increase the length and intensity of my workouts. I’m hoping the extra calorie-burning and muscle-building will help me drop the last 2 sizes!
My plan: better breakfasts (Yea, Jimmy Dean!), more veggies, less meat, additional exercise time and very few sweets!
I joined a running group for better motivation.

I am planning to exercise 3x a week and watch portion sizes. Also have difficulty eating breakfast and giving up carbs…but at least this is a start!
I’m focusing on cutting out empty calorie snack foods and substituting fresh fruit and veggies. It’s not as much about losing weight as it is about feeling better physically!
I plan on walking more in 2011. I also plan to eat more fruits and vegetables and less sugar and junk food.

I recently joined a fitness program at work that pays cash for pedometer steps, workouts, etc. I expect that will give me added incentive to excercise all year long.
For awhile I had been keeping a supply of raw vegetables in the refrigerator. It kept me from eating other things. That fell by the wayside during the holidays. IFor the coming year I’d like to get back to that.
I plan to cook more from scratch and eat more whole/organic foods, fresh is better is my new motto

I’m going to stop skimping on breakfast, since it’s such an important meal. I want to be sure to include more fruits and whole grains in my meals.

I’m aiming to take the kids for 2+ mile walks in the neighborhood at least 4 times a week. That gets me off my rear end and gets the kids out for fresh air.
I plan to make small changes through the year, like eating more veggies and moving more.
Believe it or not but just getting up off the couch and playing just dance 2 with my girls really gets the blood pupming and makes me feel isntantly more alive.
I’m going to be getting back in shape after my 2nd baby (due any day now!!!). I plan to focus on incorporating whole foods and gradually increasing to a more intense workout routine. I would love to do a race or some other fitness event before the end of the year.
i’m switching from diet coke to water at least sometimes
We just moved to San Francisco, so I am incorporating more fresh veggies into our meals and training for the SF Half Marathon in April – first training run is 1/29.
I’ve been doing well with my exercise routine since October, so I’m happy with myself that I got a head start on the New Year with that. But I plan to work on my eating habits. Oh boy, do I ever have a sweet tooth!
My new resolution is to up my trips to the gym from 2 a week to 3 times a week. And to hold myself to “making up” missed gym trips with videos at home.

MORE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES 4 ME. ALSO WALKING TO THE STORE MORE OFTEN.
I have resolved to actually eat breakfast in the morning. Usually I just run out of the house and don’t even think about it. So by mid-morning, I am starving and I have to go the vending machine to get something to snack on. So by eating a healthy breakfast every day, I should be able to curb all of the snacking that I do.
Priorities…Prioritize precious family time…prioritize healthy habits…prioritize prayer time…prioritize exercise…

I want to eat better.
This year I am concentrating on portion control by eating six small meals a day. In addition, I am drinking more water. I have lost 58lbs. and have 50 more to go.
I’m trying to lose a bit of weight. I hate exercising so I started out with a really simple plan that takes five minutes of my day. So far it’s working! Oh and try some more veggies.
I’m going to try and walk around a small lake (3 miles around) every morning before work… if it’s not raining of course!
I’m going to drink more water and increase snacks as opposed to eating only three big meals.
i’m planning on drinking much more water
I know a better breakfast can make a better day for me…I usually ditch it all together or eat so late that it messes up my eating schedule and metabolism. To better help this, I need to eat MORE throughout the day, Healthy foods…starting with breakfast. I know the “starve” is not good and the whole DIET thing I am SO tired of. With kids in school I don’t worry about feeding myself “normal” anymore until dinner. I’d like to get to a point this year that I can be on track, eat like a normal woman again…where food is just FOOD and not an enemy, enjoy it and let be a tool to improve my rotten health. After that, I can work on getting my MOVE on again and stop being a couch slouch. Having chronic illness doesn’t mean you should stop working on yourself just because you have been “dealt” a rotten hand…it means you have to work harder and better at keeping healthy!
Hope I can put these better choices into ACTION!
thanks!

thankyou!
I am going to maintain the fitness routines I established last year.
I am actually working on getting to bed at a decent hour so I can get up and eat breakfast before classes!
I bought a DSLR and am determined to learn to use it well.
The changes I made for this year is to stay Positive and to eat more healthier.
Some better choices I am going to make are:
1) Eating a HEALTHY breakfast. No excuses, no exceptions.
2) Getting outdoors more, taking walks around the neighborhood, it’s relaxing and good for you so why the heck not.
3) Get Organized. I’ve been a mess all my life. Not a sloppy mess just, I toss things about and push things around and then spend an entire weekend working myself out of the weeds. So i’m making an effort to get organize and STAY organized.
3) Get in touch with friends, not just a text or a call but lunch, or brunch or coffee or a full on fancy date!
Cheers!
I’ve cut down on bad eating habits.

After years of resolving to simply eat less to try to lose weight (and never being successful), this year I changed my resolution to add to my diet; specifically more fiber. I know I don’t get enough fiber in my diet, so I’m adding high fiber foods to each meal. It is much easier to keep this resolution, and I actually do feel better physically.
I plan to drink more water and get to the gym at least 3X a week.
For starters, I’m running my second half marathon on March 20th, so I started the new year off starting to eat right and more healthy again. I trained for my last half and did not pay attention to the foods I was eating. Now, I’m menu planning each week (and that bacon mac & cheese will have to be on my one off day!) to make sure I eat enough veggies and protein. Not a big fruit person. And besides that, just getting back into my workout routine each day to make sure I stay in shape!
I’m changing the way we eat. Have been trying some new (to us) recipes that incorporate more vegetables and fruits and less red meat. So far, so good! mcgillrmcgill(at)charter(dot)net
I have lost 10 lbs so far. Added protein and nixed some of the simple carbs from my diet. Also, I added some heart and lung pumping cardio to increase my metabolism twice a day. I only added short bursts, between 10 and 15 minutes each. So far so good. I will keep on doing what works

I have a plan to “Do something different”. Everyday I do *something*, be it going to the gym, home exercises, or riding my bike. So far I haven’t really stuck with it, but it is a good idea!
All natural foods seems to be a trend for me for getting healthier.
I plan on cooking healthier meals for my family!

I am trying to eat healthier and exercise more…so far so good!!!
This year, I’m trying to drink more water.
My goal is to get back into walking at least 3 miles a day and also to incorporate regular exercise back into my routine 3 days a week, I was walking 3-5 miles every day last year but have been sidetracked and need to direct my focus back to walking so that I can be healthier and also to lose a few lbs that slowly crept up on me since I slacked off with my walking, my routine was working great for me and I plan to get my self back on that same routine. Thanks for the fantastic giveaway

Like you, I skip breakfast–almost on a daily basis. Because I’ve heard how beneficial it is to eat breakfast, maybe I’ll try a little bit harder. Glad Jimmy Dean offers options that are healthier, because even if I’m not eating, my family is! Thanks for the giveaway.

Speaking of low carb, I have to eat that way. I have RA and it is the only way, besides exercise, to not have inflammation so I do a low inflammation diet. Good news is I make almond flour bread so I can have that.
So I am determined to stay on my special diet this year to be healthy, slim, and feel better, too. Only cheat at birthday parties or once in awhile. And dang, I looked pretty good in a dress yesterday and I am 55!

I LOVE Jimmy Dean! YUM!! *slurps*
I’m trying so hard to lose this after-baby weight… shes 8 mo old and I’ve lost 15 lbs and I have 15 more to go! its a daily struggle to make healthy choices and be active. Hard to make enough time in the day, to take care of the baby and get my other little one to (and from) school, plus take care of myself, 2 dogs, the husband the house, but somehow I manage. (Moms do it everyday, but noone tells you how HARD it is! one was easy, two kids, totally diff! Lordy if I had more! ) Lord, grant me the serenity to not freak out over every little tiny mess. My resolution is to lose this weight!~
I am eating healthier and trying hard! .. Wish me luck!!!
