Tagging along on a business trip to Pensacola this week has kept me out of the kitchen but not away from good food! The Fish House, where the World Famous Grits a Ya Ya are always good, especially when you can enjoy them sitting out by the water after a long road trip, was worth two visits. The second time around I couldn’t pass up the featured Veal and Scallops with Fettucine Carbonara.
We also enjoyed a lovely evening dining al fresco at Tre Fratelli, where a garlicky pesto tossed with fettucine and a glass of chardonnay really hit the spot.
Lunches included a sub from Publix, even better than usual because I ate it while sitting on a gorgeous stretch of white sandy beach on a perfectly gorgeous Monday afternoon.
Another lunch was at Hub Stacey’s, dining outdoors on a tasty shrimp salad wrapped in a big soft pita, and fabulous because I had great company.
In my roaming around town with nothing but time, I came across Distinctive Kitchens. I wish I’d gotten a photo of their very cool vintage kitchen window display but I stopped in to browse and came out with a few new gadgets and a couple of bottles of wine.
Now we’re moving on to our next stop and looking forward to dinner with some pretty terrific friends tonight and a stop at my favorite produce stand on the way home to stock up on fresh goodies to get me back to Our Life In The Kitchen.
